Sabira's Story
When I was growing up, I remember being asked “what do you want to be when you grow-up?”. Secretly, I didn’t want to be anything other than a mom. I felt like it was the greatest job in the world! I loved playing with kids and young children were always attracted to me, just as I was to them. I would gravitate to them and they would gravitate to me.
In 2007 my first son was born with major medical issues. He needed 2 open heart surgeries very early in life amongst dozens and dozens of other tests, procedures, surgeries, etc. I bore patiently through those days, hanging on to the side of his bed waiting for the difficult days to pass and for us to start living my dream as I had envisioned it.
As our family grew and my kids got older, I found myself being swept away by the difficulties of parenting. Never in a million years had I imagined it would be so difficult. From the embarrassment of my kids’ behaviour, to the sleepless nights, to the isolation I felt, I soon fell into a place of overwhelm. I worked hard over the years to learn best how I could help my family. I read countless books, attended seminars, workshops all in attempts to find some answers. Slowly bit by bit things finally started to make sense and I not only started to enjoy my children but I started to become the mom I always dreamt of being. It has been the most profound and extended personal growth “workshop” of my life. Along the way, I have gained knowledge, experience and some extraordinary practical tools that I am eager to share with you.
I'm now a certified instructor for Hand in Hand Parenting and my vision is for every parent to know and have these tools to make their parenting journey an enjoyable and fruitful one. I want children to grow up with parents who have these tools so they can enjoy their childhood and grow up to become the most valuable contributors to society.
